To assist in the educational, social, economic and political development of women and young people through a wide range of services: training, research, advocacy, shelter, legal and financial aid, intra-familial conflict resolution, information and library services.
WACOL is committed to creating a society where women and girls live free from discrimination, fear, and gender-based violence. We focus on eliminating cultural, legal, economic, and political barriers that restrict women’s growth. Through empowerment programs, capacity building, skill acquisition, and rights awareness, WACOL equips women with the tools needed to transform their lives and communities.
One of WACOL’s core missions is defending the rights of women and children through free legal services. We provide legal representation, counseling, rehabilitation, and shelter for survivors of domestic violence, rape, abuse, and trafficking. Our Tamar Sexual Assault Referral Centre (TAMAR SARC) supports thousands of survivors with medical, psychological, and legal help. WACOL advocates for justice reforms to protect vulnerable populations.
WACOL works tirelessly to ensure that human rights are upheld at community, national, and regional levels. Our policy advocacy, research, and public awareness campaigns promote transparency, accountability, and the rule of law. We challenge harmful traditional practices such as early marriage, widowhood rites, and gender-based discrimination, pushing for policy reforms that protect the dignity of all.
WACOL believes education is a powerful tool for breaking cycles of poverty and oppression. Our community outreach programs provide civic education, leadership skills, livelihood training, and poverty-reduction initiatives. We work with schools, rural communities, policymakers, and partners to build stronger, safer, and more informed communities.
